The Growth Filter

A mobile app. In development.

Keep your goal in front of you.
Filter out everything else.

The Growth Filter turns the goal you already have into one question. You run every decision through it. What moves you toward the goal gets through. The rest does not.

One question, borrowed from a boat

In the two years before the 2000 Olympics, the British men's rowing eight ran every decision through a single question.

Will it make the boat go faster?
Gold, Sydney 2000. The first British eight to win it since 1912.

Not only the training decisions. All of them. What to eat, when to sleep, whether to go out, which arguments were worth having. If the answer was no, they did not do it. Before they started asking it, the crew had never won an international race.

That question is a filter. The Growth Filter helps you build your own, pointed at whatever you are actually trying to do.

A goal is not a plan

Lose ten pounds. Save six thousand dollars. Finish the book. Every one of those is a result, and you cannot do a result. You can only do the things that produce one.

That is where most goals stop. Not because you stopped wanting it, but because nothing about the goal tells you what to do on a Tuesday morning. So it sits there, month after month, true and out of reach.

The Growth Filter closes that distance. It works backward from the thing you want, through your own answers, until you are left with one to three actions small enough to do today and specific enough to measure.

What gets through, and what does not

Once your question exists, most decisions answer themselves. The walk gets through. The second helping does not. Neither answer takes any thinking, which is the entire point of having the question.

The things that do not get through are not bad. They are just not this week. Your attention is the scarce thing here, and the filter is what decides where it goes.

How the filter gets built

  1. 01

    You answer questions

An AI-guided interview asks what you want, what it would take, and what you are actually willing to do. It does not suggest goals. It does not pick your actions. It supplies the questions. You supply every answer.

  2. 02

    You write the filter

One question, in your words, with a real number in it. Short enough to remember while you are standing in a kitchen deciding something.

  3. 03

The goal comes down to daily actions

Ten pounds might come down to a calorie count and a step count. It might come down to something else entirely. Whatever it is, you named it, and there are one to three of them. Not twelve. Each is either a number you log or a simple yes or no.

  4. 04

You lock it for the week

The filter and the actions hold for seven days, each with its own reminder at a time you set. They are not something you rewrite on a bad Tuesday.

The record is yours

Every number you log and every day you keep goes into a record. Streaks, totals, the weeks that worked and the weeks that did not. The app keeps it. It does not interpret it for you.

You will rarely scroll back through it. Almost nobody does. What matters is that all of it exists in one place and you can take it with you. Export it. Hand it to an AI and ask what actually happened. Show someone. It is your data, not the app's.
